We gutted this tired duplex unit and completely reimagined it without changing the footprint. By opening up the attic and adding skylights, we expanded the kitchen into a vertical light-filled volume and added a large bedroom in existing space. On the facade, a standout corner window now frames the street with sharper proportions and fresh materials. The separate tiny outdoor offices boost functionality without breaking the budget and provide support for a new large deck to extend the home's living space outside.
We reimagined the kitchen of this classic Elmwood Craftsman home to include a strong connection to the owner’s beloved garden. Floor to ceiling glass, custom cabinetry and a fully tiled wet bath are highlights of this project. Wide plank white oak floors incorporate radiant heat. Details from the owner’s travels and lives include a custom tile backsplash and built in seating constructed of wind felled Acacia from the property.
