ADU
This backyard ADU is a bold, design-forward nod to mid-century Modernism. Inspired by Sea Ranch and shaped by the clients’ love of clean lines and timeless proportions, it carves the lot into two distinct, functional outdoor spaces for both homes. Inside, it’s light-filled and flexible, equally suited to weekend guests or long-term renters. Outside, it holds its own as a sculptural focal point in the landscape.
We reimagined the kitchen of this classic Elmwood Craftsman home to include a strong connection to the owner’s beloved garden. Floor to ceiling glass, custom cabinetry and a fully tiled wet bath are highlights of this project. Wide plank white oak floors incorporate radiant heat. Details from the owner’s travels and lives include a custom tile backsplash and built in seating constructed of wind felled Acacia from the property.
