Built to push the limits of new ADU codes, this two-story unit includes a garage, studio, and a full home. A custom foundation design allows the home to wrap a large old redwood with minimal disruption. The clean detailing plays well with the original home’s style, creating a cohesive, modern compound without feeling too matchy.
We reimagined the kitchen of this classic Elmwood Craftsman home to include a strong connection to the owner’s beloved garden. Floor to ceiling glass, custom cabinetry and a fully tiled wet bath are highlights of this project. Wide plank white oak floors incorporate radiant heat. Details from the owner’s travels and lives include a custom tile backsplash and built in seating constructed of wind felled Acacia from the property.
